About

Maarten Draye specializes in international arbitration and complex litigation. A member of the Brussels Bar, he established Draye Law following nearly two decades at Hanotiau & van den Berg, where he was a partner. He has been involved in over 75 arbitrations and has sat as arbitrator since 2011, with experience as president, sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator and emergency arbitrator. He further acts as counsel, including before state courts in enforcement and setting aside proceedings.

A frequent speaker and author on arbitration-related topics, Maarten is co-author of Arbitration in Belgium: A Practitioner’s Guide, and co-editor-in-chief of b-Arbitra, the Belgian review of arbitration. He teaches international commercial arbitration at KU Leuven and co-chairs CEPANI’s Academic Committee.
