Arbitration in Belgium: A Practitioner’s Guide (Kluwer Law International, 2016) is an article-by-article commentary on the Belgian arbitration law, Part VI of the Judicial Code as revised by the Law of 24 June 2013. For each provision, it sets out its purpose, the changes from the previous law, its relationship to the UNCITRAL Model Law, the main issues in practice, the scope for party autonomy and the implications for costs.

Maarten Draye edited the book with Niuscha Bassiri. Among other topics, he wrote the commentary on the conduct of the arbitral proceedings and the taking of evidence, the enforcement of the arbitration agreement (with Erica Stein) and the composition of the arbitral tribunal. A second edition is forthcoming.
